Sword engraved with the Big Dipper, used on Daoist altars to quell demons.

The Seven-Star Sword is the ritual blade of the Celestial Masters, its face engraved with the seven stars of the Northern Dipper. Wielded in exorcism and offering, it carries the power of the Dipper’s rotation — the sky turning, evil driven out. Zhang Daoling, founder of the Celestial Masters, is said to have used such a sword to subdue demons, and the blade remains a standard instrument on every Daoist altar.
