Goddess of Mount Tai

Goddess of fertility and protection worshipped at Bixia Shrine on Mount Tai.

Bixia Yuanjun, the Goddess of the Azure Clouds, is the great female deity of Mount Tai, called Grandmother Tai Shan by the people. She protects children and mothers, grants sons to the childless and watches over travelers on the sacred road. Her shrine at the summit of Mount Tai drew pilgrims from all over the north, making her one of the most powerful goddesses in Chinese religion.
