Guardian of the Bridge of Helplessness who gives souls the broth of forgetting before rebirth.

Meng Po is the goddess who waits at the Bridge of Helplessness in the underworld, offering every passing soul a bowl of her broth. Those who drink forget their former lives completely and may then be reborn. Her name carries one of the most poignant ideas in Chinese religion: that each life begins in innocence because memory itself is left behind on the bridge.
