Creator goddess and mother of humankind in Chinese mythology. She molded humans from yellow earth and mended the broken sky with five-colored stones.

Nüwa is among the most revered goddesses in Chinese myth. After the sky pillars collapsed, she smelted five-colored stones to patch the heavens, cut off the legs of the giant turtle to re-erect the four poles, and dammed the flood with reed ash. She is honored as the mother goddess and patron of marriage.
