Star God of Longevity
Personification of the southern star of old age, bearer of the peach of long life.
The Star of Longevity was the ancient southern star of old age, worshipped since the Han dynasty as the giver of long life. Daoism identified him with the Immortal Elder of the South Pole, and folk art gave him a high bald forehead, a long staff and a peach of immortality. He is the gentle face of humanity’s oldest wish — to live well and long.
