Lord Lao, Supreme Elder

Deified Laozi, the Daode Tianzun of Daoism’s Three Pure Ones.

The Supreme Elder Lord Lao is the Daode Tianzun of the Three Pure Ones, formed from the deification of the philosopher Laozi. Daoism holds that he created the world through the Dao and descends age after age in different incarnations to teach humanity. Revered as the founder of the religion since the Eastern Han, he sits at the summit of its pantheon, holding the scroll of the Way.
