Yu the Great
Yu of Xia
Legendary tamer of the Great Flood and founder of the Xia dynasty, said to have cast nine bronze tripods.
Yu the Great was the legendary tamer of the Great Flood and founder of the Xia dynasty. Abandoning the failed damming methods of his father Gun, Yu dredged the rivers and spent thirteen years away from home, passing his own gate three times without entering. His success earned him the throne from the sage emperor Shun, and his nine tripods became the emblem of royal authority over the Nine Provinces.
