Zhuanxu, Lord Gaoyang, was a grandson of the Yellow Emperor who reformed the world of spirits and men. He ordered his ministers Chong and Li to sever the easy traffic between heaven and earth, ending the age when every household performed its own sacrifices. He also set the calendar, ordered the stars and shaped the rites of marriage.
