Zhu Bajie was the Marshal of the Heavenly Canopy who fell from heaven for fondling the moon goddess and was reborn in a sow’s womb. Greedy, lazy and endlessly scheming, he still proves his worth with his nine-toothed rake in battle. His comic humanity makes him the pilgrim band’s most human member.
