Divine serpent that rides mist and cloud, emblem of riding opportunity and change.

Tengshe is the divine serpent that can ride mist and fly without wings. Philosophers of the Warring States used its effortless flight as a parable of riding circumstances: “the flying dragon rides the cloud, the soaring serpent rides the mist.” In later divination the same name denotes a star-spirit of startling change, warning of false alarms and sudden turns of fortune.
