The Eight Immortals Cross the Sea
Each Shows Their Power
The Eight Immortals cross the Eastern Sea on their own talismans, giving China its proverb of unique talents.
Returning from the Queen Mother’s banquet, the Eight Immortals reach the Eastern Sea and decide to cross it each with their own power rather than by boat. Li Tieguai rides his gourd, Han Zhongli his fan, Lü Dongbin his sword, He Xiangu her lotus, and each displays a different art. Their passage stirs the Dragon King, and after a battle the immortals prevail — giving China the saying that everyone shows their own talents.
