Shooting Down Nine Suns

When ten suns rose together and scorched the earth, the archer Yi shot down nine of them and slew the monsters that plagued the people.

In the time of Emperor Yao, ten suns appeared at once, withering every crop and drying every river while monsters and serpents ravaged the land. The divine archer Yi drew his bow and brought down nine suns, sparing one to warm the world; then he slew Zaochi, the Nine Babies, and the Giant Boar, and severed the long serpent at Dongting. The people rejoiced and acclaimed Yao as emperor.
