A prince weds the peacock princess, overcomes a wicked wizard and brings her home at last.

Prince Zhaoshutun of the Dai people meets a peacock princess while hunting and keeps one of her wings so she cannot fly away; they marry and live in love. When war calls the prince away, the king believes the wizard’s slander and banishes the princess, who flies back to the peacock kingdom. The prince follows across deserts and seas, defeats the wizard, and is reunited with his wife — proving love that crosses the boundary of birds and men.
