Deified maiden Lin Mo guides ships through storms, her lamp seen by sailors across the seas.

Even in life the Meizhou girl Lin Mo was known for foreseeing storms and risking herself to save the drowning; legend says she saved her father from a shipwreck in a dream. After her death, sailors in distress began to see a goddess with a lantern guiding their ships through the dark, and her cult spread from one bay to every coast. Mazu rescues the sea because she never stopped rescuing it while alive.
