The River That Makes Mothers

In a land of only women, Tang Sanzang must escape a queen’s proposal and a pregnancy from the river.

In the Kingdom of Women of the Western Liang, every inhabitant is female, and drinking the water of the Mother-and-Child River brings pregnancy. Tang Sanzang and his companions drink it by mistake and find themselves with child; meanwhile the beautiful queen falls in love with the pilgrim and begs him to stay as her husband. Wukong tricks the party free, and Tripitaka, who has briefly wavered, resumes the road westward.
