Zhou Chu Eliminates Three Evils
The Man Who Was the Third Evil
After slaying tiger and dragon, Zhou Chu learns he himself was the worst scourge — and reforms.
Zhou Chu, a violent youth of Wu, was counted by his own townsfolk as one of the district’s three scourges, alongside the mountain tiger and the river dragon. When he killed the tiger and fought the dragon through three days of water, he returned to find the people celebrating the removal of all three evils — and learned, to his shock, that he was the third. He turned his courage inward, studied with the great teachers and became a loyal official.
